“But we watched these guys compete all year, they didn’t let the scoreboard talk them out of it. We fought, we stayed together, and we’re better. You’ll see two better football teams play next Saturday than you’ve seen all year, and that’s something to look forward to,” Ellerson said.

HISTORIC RIVALRY

Although this is the 112th time the two service academies will meet, Navy has won the last nine meetings, the longest winning streak by either team in series history.

Currently, Navy leads the all-time series with a record of 55 wins, 49 losses, and seven ties.

But Army has something to charge in on their horses about, too.

The Black Knights enter the season’s final game with a chance to win their first rushing title since 1998. Army is averaging 350.91 yards per game. If they can maintain that average, it would be the best rushing average by any team since Nebraska led the nation with 392.6 yards per game during the 1997 season. Army has led the country in rushing seven times: 1944, 1945, 1954, 1984, 1993, 1996 and 1998.

VIDEO & PHOTOS: Wreaths Across America

In 2010, six people gathered at the West Point Cemetery to place 117 wreaths as part of the Wreaths Across America program. On Dec. 3, 2011, more than 100 people from across New York and Pennsylvania gathered to place about 1,750 wreaths.

West Point’s Track and Field team was among the group of volunteers.

Dr. Todd Crowder, a co-coodinator for the event, said the goal is to one day fill the entire cemetery.

There is another ceremonial Wreaths Across America event on Dec. 6 at 1530 in the West Point Cemetery. All are encouraged to attend.

Now, consider heat pump technology. Heat pumps do not use energy to heat or cool air to any temperature. Rather, they are heat exchangers. During the winter, heat pumps pull heat from the air or ground and pumps that warm air into your home until the thermostat reaches your desired temperature.

During the summer, a heat pump works in reverse. The pump takes the warm air from inside of your house and pumps it outside, until the internal temperature reaches the desired level of coolness. Because the heat pump is not heating or cooling anything using electricity or gas, the energy operating costs are much lower. And because less energy is used, the impact of running a heat pump is far less on the environment than running a central heating or cooling system.

All heat pumps are not created equal, however. If you live in an older home and your heat pump predates the government regulations, then it still may be terribly inefficient. Even new heat pumps can vary greatly in terms of their effectiveness. Also, heat pumps are not efficient in climates with extreme temperature swings.
