What is oud wood? Oud is a resin produced by the Indonesian Agarwood tree when it is infected by fungus. The resin is an immune response that permeates the wood and creates a complex leathery/sour/woody/salty/ambery-smelling substance used in traditional Arab perfumes and eastern incenses. Oud is an increasingly popular ingredient in western-style fragrances.

What is attar? Attar is the Arabic word for fragrance, and is traditional form of perfume made from distilled florals and resins.

  1. Are there any …
Are there any perfumes you would recommend that are very feminine, maybe a bit va-va-vavoom..y while still being elegant. I generally don’t like vanilla or very oriental fragrances. Are there any perfumes that you can think of?

  2. Oh wow I need that …
Oh wow I need that incense one I loooooooooove the smell of that swingy thing in church and I thought I was alone, would I need to remortgage to get it? :0)

Hey I adore the smell of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique and Cacharel Amour Amour. Can you recommend other perfumes?

  4. Question for ya …
    Question for ya Katie <3
How do you know if you have “acidy skin” as some people call it, and are there fragrances that suit those skin types?
    lol’d at the swear :D

  5. If you love incense …
If you love incense smells you’d love Cardinal by Heeley of you haven’t tried it yet.

I think I like them both for different reasons.
The Avignon for the incense, and Avignon for that peaceful calming woodsiness.

  6. I love your videos …
I love your videos Katie :)
What would your picks be fore a rose scented perfume or a lilac scented one?
Also, do you have a pick for the most erotic perfume …sounds pervy, I know.

  7. @TedyGirl101 Pink …
@TedyGirl101 Pink Sugar is the one that smells more like candy. Another good candy one is Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Abricot.

  8. Katie ,is it better …
Katie ,is it better if i get Pink Sugar or Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, which one smells better and more like candy?

  9. @Cr4zYH3aD Oh, and …
@Cr4zYH3aD Oh, and give CdG Kyoto a sniff while you’re at it.

  10. @makeupcreator …
@makeupcreator Avignon smells very straight-ahead church frankincensy to me (with a smidge of vanilla), and Kyoto focuses more on cedary/piney woodsiness, with that vetiver grassy-earthiness. Perhaps Avignon is more cerebral?

  11. that combo of …
that combo of Avignon and Vanille sounds amazing You must have smelled wonderful on your wedding day:)

What do you think about Kyoto versus Avignon?
It’s hard to decide between them.

  12. @Cr4zYH3aD For you, …
@Cr4zYH3aD For you, I immediately thought of Annick Goutal Encens Flamboyant. It’s got “manly winter pine sap” written all over it. Also check out Comme des Garçons Zargosk, Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac, and Pino Silvestre.

  13. @KatiePuckrikSmells …
@KatiePuckrikSmells I am so happy to hear that. You are the best! I will be checking you blog often for that post. Thank you so much!

  14. @lion03heart If …
@lion03heart If you’re loving those spicy roses like Rose 31, then you will really enjoy Lyric for Men. It’s greener than Rose 31, and doesn’t have R31′s cumin. It’s easy to find online, and places like Aedes and LuckyScent will send you samples to try first.

Chanel Coromandel is available from Chanel Boutiques, a few stores like Selfridges in London and Bergdorf Goodman in NYC, as well as online, I believe.

  15. Hi Katie, I’m a man …

  16. @dazigg Oh, I know …
@dazigg Oh, I know just what you mean! I had the same thought drinking some fine bourbon the other night. Okay, now that I know exactly what you’re after (the ones I mentioned before are all rum-based) you should check out the fragrance line by Frapin, the cognac makers who now do perfume, too. Read up on them at LuckyScent dot c o m

  17. @knics33 My wallet …
@knics33 My wallet lays those kind of trips on me, too!

You’re talking about the Nag Champa oil that’s by the incense brand that comes in the blue boxes with the red writing? I’ve not tried it yet, and I’m curious about it too. If you try it, let me know how it is.

@Apezy321 Ha-ha, I know! We just thought we were so bohemian and sophisticated.

  20. @karlaaa87 Snort! …
@karlaaa87 Snort! It does seem like every time Madonna and Angelina visit Africa, they come back with a “souvenir”. But good for them for helping kids!

  21. @realfam1969 I’d …
@realfam1969 I’d love to take a peek at your collection! Be sure to send it along to one of my collection vids as a response so we can all have a look.

Oh no, I wasn’t thinking of “funeral incense”, just regular ol’ church incense! That would be too morbid, indeed!
